This landscape draws inspiration from the sweeping, rugged beauty of the Faroe Islands, an homage to the client’s deep love for the landscape of her childhood home. Our goal was to translate this vision into a site-specific, regionally appropriate design that feels both evocative and enduring.
A textured ground plane of interwoven grasses and sedges mirrors the rolling, windswept meadows of the Islands, its soft movement punctuated by seasonal drifts of allium in bloom.
A small grove of birch trees provides filtered privacy at the front of the house, while a pair of evergreens offer seclusion near the dining room. Tucked into the side courtyard, a hidden garden creates a magical retreat where the children can find solace and inspiration among the evergreens.
