Once a windswept expanse of concrete, this raised plaza has been reimagined as a dynamic park/plaza hybrid. Flowing, sculptural planting beds weave through the space, creating intimate pockets for conversation and open areas for larger gatherings. Built-in benches and flexible seating transform it into a vibrant lunchtime hub for downtown workers.
Originally part of the Illinois Center, this 1970s plaza was redesigned when its waterproofing required replacement. The revitalized space now welcomes visitors, including those from the adjacent Chicago Architecture Center, seamlessly integrating nature, movement, and community.
