Hyde Park Home (2)

Chicago, Illinois

This client came in with a strong design sense and a deep love of the Faroe Islands where they were raised.  We worked to translate their inspiration into a striking landscape with regionally appropriate plantings that reflect the client's history and personality.

A low, semi-evergreen ground plane of complimentary grasses and sedges creates a flowing, mottled texture reminiscent of the rolling grassy landscape of the Islands, punctuated by seasonal drifts of allium flowers.

A small grove of birch trees provides a sense of scale and filtered privacy at the front of the house, while a pair of evergreen trees provide full privacy from the dining room, and creates a magical secret garden in the side courtyard, full of boulders and gravel, where the children can find solace and inspiration in nature.
